Raquel E. Martini

Raquel Martini is the current director of the institute, an Independent Researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), and Associate Professor in the Chair of Chemical Thermodynamics at the National University of Córdoba (UNC). She earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National University of the South in 2007, focusing on the use of quasi- and supercritical fluids for the separation of polymer mixtures and as reaction media for graft copolymerization reactions. She completed a postdoctoral stay at the Faculty of Materials of the University of Perugia (Italy), where she worked on the processing of composite materials. Her current work revolves around the development of materials with predefined properties, particularly studying the modification of commercial polymers with bioactive substances through grafting and impregnation reactions using supercritical fluids, formulation of composite materials, and development of biodegradable insulating materials, among others. Additionally, she has expertise in the extraction of natural products using alternative techniques such as pressurized fluid extraction, microwave-assisted extraction, and ultrasound-assisted extraction.
