Ivana Magario

Ivana Magario is a Research Associate at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) and Associate Professor in the Chair of Chemical Reaction Engineering at the Faculty of Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences of the National University of Córdoba (UNC). She obtained her doctorate in engineering in 2008 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) (Germany), developing her thesis on the enzymatic modification of biodegradable surfactants. During her stay at the Institute of Engineering in Life Sciences at KIT, she also participated as a researcher in the design, construction, and testing of a pilot-scale fluidized bed column for protein purification.

She was repatriated to Argentina in 2009 through a postdoctoral fellowship from CONICET’s Reinsertion Program and the Human Resources Program (PRH) of the National Agency for the Promotion of Science and Technology. Her research activities are related to the evaluation of enzymes and metal complexes as catalysts in the oxidation of substrates such as phenolic dyes, glycerol, monoterpenes, and unsaturated fatty acids. She has experience in mathematical modeling of reaction kinetics, immobilization of enzymes and metal complexes on solid supports, and design and interpretation of biphasic reactors. She has provided technology transfer services in the development of production processes under specific work agreements.
