Martín Cismondi

Martin Cismondi is a Principal Researcher at CONICET, having previously served as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences of the National University of Córdoba (UNC) until 2022. He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from UNC in 2000 and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National University of the South (UNS) in 2006. He has worked and undertaken academic stays of varying durations at PLAPIQUI (Bahía Blanca, Argentina), DTU (Lyngby, Denmark), UCLM (Ciudad Real, Spain), ATOMS-UFRJ (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), RERI (Palo Alto, USA), Polythechnica University of Bucharest (Romania), Unicamp (Brazil), and YPF Tecnología (Y-TEC, La Plata, Argentina).

His research activities primarily focus on complex phase behaviors and their modeling based on equations of state, particularly for applications in hydrocarbon production. This includes precipitation phenomena of asphaltenes, paraffins, and various PVT behaviors of reservoir fluids. He has authored approximately 50 articles in international scientific journals, 2 book chapters, and presented over 150 papers at national and international scientific events. His h-index is 16, with over 867 citations (Scopus, April 2024). He also oversees high-level technological services (STAN, CONICET) for consultancy and training in Fluid Thermodynamics and its applications. He is the creator of the GPEC software (Global Phase Equilibrium Calculations), which has been downloaded thousands of times in more than 50 countries across its different versions. He is a keynote speaker at national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer for over 10 different international scientific journals. He organized EQUIFASE 2018 (XI Iberoamerican Conference on Phase Equilibria and Fluid Properties for Process Design) in Córdoba, Argentina, October 2018, and is the driving force and Technical Coordinator of the Red-Consortium on Fluids in the Gas and Oil Industry (FIGyP), recently established by CONICET in collaboration with various companies in this industrial sector.
